Our Vision
At the Leicester & Leicestershire Teaching School Hub, we understand that the quality of teaching is the single biggest factor in determining pupil achievement. To this end, we support schools and trusts within our region to recruit, train, develop and retain the very best teachers, support staff and leaders working in all phases and types of schools, and at all stages of their careers.
The Teaching School Hub is the focal point of an outstanding collaborative educational community, delivering on the DfE's Recruitment and Retention Strategy (2019) for all 206 schools in Leicester City and the county districts of Blaby, Harborough and Oadby & Wigston.
At the heart of this is the Golden Thread of professional development, starting with the delivery of outstanding Initial Teacher Training (ITT), building through the new two-year Early Career Framework (ECF) for newly qualified/early career teachers (ECTs) and leading to a revised suite of leadership and specialist National Professional Qualifications (NPQs), including the Early Headship Coaching Offer (EHCO).
In addition, as an accredited Appropriate Body (AB), we provide a quality assurance service to schools ensuring the ECTs receive their statutory entitlement and are fairly and consistently assessed against the Teachers’ Standards. Finally, we offer a suite of other evidenced-based Continuous Professional Development programmes (CPD) suitable for the full range of the teaching workforce in our region.
In all, the Leicester & Leicestershire Teaching School Hub provides a clear pathway through, and simplified access to, high-quality professional learning opportunities that translate into positive impact for pupils.

Our Aims
We aim to:
- provide all schools with access to high-quality research informed CPD, which supports staff to develop at every stage of their careers
- support schools to retain and develop expertise in quality first teaching and leadership
- signpost teachers and staff to quality-assured, evidence-informed, best practice
- promote greater awareness of the Teaching School Hub activity through effective regular communication with all stakeholders in the region
- ensure that all children in our region can thrive and succeed.

To help us achieve this vision, we work with a range of well-respected schools and trusts within the region, as well as national providers, Curriculum Hubs, Research Schools and other highly-quality providers. This enables us to deliver effectively on the DfE’s agenda at scale whilst also maintaining a local context and addressing local needs when and where they arise.
