CPD from Inclusion & SEND Hub

Details are now available for the Autumn 2023 cohorts of the Engagment Model and SEND in the maintream.

The ‘SEND in the Mainstream’ training is structured around the EEF ‘SEND in the Mainstream’ guidance and the 5 recommendations set out within it to support primary and secondary schools seeking to improve their provision for pupils with SEND.

The focus of the training is on improving the quality of teaching and learning in mainstream classrooms and ensuring pupils are full members of the school community who have rich and positive experiences.

The training will support you in building a SEND Toolkit for your school based on the 5 recommendations. The training includes practical tasks including case studies, exploration of research and evidence informed practice. There will be opportunities for discussion and reflection between delegates.

All trainers are outstanding SEND Specialist Practitioners and school leaders within their own settings.

The training runs over three training sessions with gap tasks in between to enable practitioners to embed ideas between sessions and link theory and practice in their provision.

The Engagement Model Training is the Department for Education’s official training package delivered by an accredited Engagement Model Lead Trainer.

The training is for Local Authority Advisors, Head Teachers, Senior Leaders, SENCOs, Data and Assessment leads and Governors in both mainstream primary and secondary schools and specialist settings.

The engagement model is an assessment tool that helps schools meet their duties in supporting pupils who are working below the level of the national curriculum and who are not engaged in subject-specific study.

The engagement model was made statutory from September 2021, replacing P scales 1 to 4.
