Do you have difficulty engaging parents with reading at home?
Gather your parents in the hall with coffee and cake for this session, led by Katie from Phonics Family. Katie is an experienced teacher and leader who has been supporting families with phonics for many years. This quick and easy introduction to phonics for busy parents is an ideal starting point:                                                            The Route to Successful Reading - How to support your child at home.

Do the books in your school represent the children in your school?                                                                 Have you audited the books you have in school recently? Do your pupils see themselves in the books they read? Join Farrah Serroukh to explore the features of high quality ethnically representative and inclusive literature.

Are non-fiction books used well across your school to engage readers?                                                            Join Isabel Thomas, science writer and author of more than 250 non-fiction books for young readers, to explore practical ideas for using non-fiction across the curriculum.

Early Reading at Roade
Visit Roade Primary School to see early reading in action. Join the head teacher and reading lead to take a look at the whole reading curriculum, including phonics, whole class reading, and reading for pleasure as well as working with parents. There will also be an opportunity to visit classes in EYFS and KS1.

How are picture books used in your school?
Join this face-to-face session with Charlotte Hacking (CLPE) to look at the Power of Picture Books. Focusing on the creative use of picture books across the primary phase, this session will bring together theory and practice, sharing lessons and techniques that impact on pupils and teachers alike.
